After more than 25 years serving the community in construction, I (Mark Ingle) moved the Ingle Builders office to downtown Lincolnton and fell in love with this place. I saw the opportunity to start an old-fashioned butcher shop like the ones I remembered as a kid. My vision is to create a place to share great food with friends and family in a community that shares these values.

My commitments to quality and integrity have served my construction business well, so I’m excited to bring those same commitments to The Meating Place in hopes of creating an experience that combines the service and hospitality all our neighbors can enjoy.

I start with top-shelf meat from local and regional distributors, cut fresh daily. Knowing the source of your meat is important and we’ve partnered with farms that support our vision.

Our staff is here to recommend the best cuts for your meal and guidance on how to prepare it best. We have an incredible team of skilled butchers and knowledgeable deli staff. When you enter The Meating Place for the first time, you’re greeted by a tour of our products with transparent information about where we source our food and answers to all your questions about quality and preparation. When you’re looking for something extraordinary, we’ll be ready to provide it for your table.


We are thrilled to announce our new General Manager, Jeremy Seagle. This not-so-new to us NCSU graduate has been with us since we opened The Meating Place. He is already a loved and trusted butcher by many of our customers. Jeremy has served in this industry in a variety of roles since 1993. Having been a manager at Silver Star Meats and Carolina Foods, Inc and working as a Food Safety Consultant/Officer and HACCP Manager, he is well qualified for the job. We are confident that he will keep and carry out our vision of offering you the best meats, cheeses, and more while also providing every guest genuine hospitality and excellent service.
